I was test driving a 2000 MPV. Going down the highway at 70mph. Let off the accelerator. It slowed down more quickly than I was expecting. Most cars I've driven have coasted much better.

Does this necessarily indicate a problem (such as brake drag)? Or is it related to the transmission (or something else)?

Has anyone had this problem? How to resolve?

2.5L engine, 4-speed automatic transmission.

Also, if you park the vehicle and shut it off when overdrive is engaged, will it be in overdrive the next time you use it? Or do you need to reactivate overdrive each time you use it?

If over drive is on then it will stay on till you turn it off.Thats what my Mazda does anyhow. As far as the slowing down,I really don't know.Mine is 4wd and it slows when I let off the gas,my dad has a Jeep Cherokee and it's 4wd and his does too.I don't know about the 2000 models maybe some else will be able to fully answer your question.
