does anyone know what the orange light on an MPV dashboard might indicate? It's in the shape of an engine

That's the mood light for the engine. Here are the possible colors of the engine mood light or "EML":

Dark blue: Happy, romantic or passionate
Blue: Calm or relaxed
Blue-green: Somewhat relaxed
Green: Normal or average
Orange: A little nervous or anxious
Gray: Very nervous or anxious
Black: Stressed, tense or feeling harried

If you have an orange light, you need to call the Mazda dealer and have them sell you their Xanax fuel additive which should allow your MPV to recover from its issues.

Is it a 1989-1997 MPV? The check-engine light in them is rigged to go on at 80,000 miles, no matter what. Ours did, and it's just a matter of taking the gauge cluster out and moving a screw on the back from the hole it's in to another hole.
