Newbie, possible future Mazda owner

Hey folks,
Joined the forum to try and get more familiar with Mazda.
I live in Ottawa (Ontario, Canada), and currently have a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder, and a 2006 Nissan Altima.
Both vehicles are getting a little long in the tooth, especially the Pathfinder (over 300,000Kms).
I am seriously looking at both the CX5 and the Mazda6.
They look like great cars (have been to a dealership), but as usual, I wanted to find out what the trouble spots are on these vehicles.
I am particularly concerned about the rust issues with earlier Mazda's, given I live in a snow and road salt area.
Has it been fixed? The guys at the dealership assured me that the problem was rectified after the 2010 model year. I believe them....NOT.
Any feedback is welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry folks. Not sure how my first post ended up in the MX-3 forum. Maybe the OP can move it to the intro forum? Thx.
