i am a millenia owner, my dad is looking for an inexpensive car for my little brother, he found a mx-3, v6 103k, five speed, that he can get for about a grand, the car has been sitting for a year or better, I do not know much execept the v6 is the weakest slowest six ever, that is not the point, how do the engine and tranny's hold up over time is the car worth investing in. Basically I would like to know if the car is going to be a money pit or a ride that will last a year or two without major expense.

Sorry Grip did not see the post til just now. The engine in my brothers MX-3 is different but you can basically plann on the same issues in the 1.8 litter V6 as you have in the 2.5. The engine is weak as far as horsepower but were over engineered as to the purpose they were intended. My brother has had no problems out of his 4 banger '94 and its his daily driver with well over a 100k now. If the power of the small V6 is a problem then swapping for power is not only easy (relative term) but also not very expensive (relative again).

if the car seems to run well and doesnt have any major issues, it sounds like a good deal for 1000.00.
