CSF makes a few aftermarket Mazda radiators. I looked up the MX-3 and they have a part number (CSF-G1000-57022) available. I bought a CSF radiator for the Millenia for less than $100, so the MX-3 one should cost about the same. I believe they are copper core radiators and not aluminum though. Aluminum is more expensive and not *that* much better than copper to be worth the extra expense IMO.

I think the original is aluminum as well. Not positive though. Although now that I think about it, aluminum might be prefered due to its lower galvanic reactivity for better coolant lifespan. And the thermal conductivity of copper *is* better than aluminum...had those reversed for a while there. I only recall the inside of my brand new radiator looking very much like copper. I didn't really think to investigate the old one closely. It might have been copper too...I dunno.
For some reason, it didn't look like copper to me. It wasn't neither green nor copper colored like I'd expect copper to be. It's long since been thrown away though. Turns out, the radiator was fine and my problem was a leaky coolant reservoir tank. I wound up replacing a perfectly good OE radiator with a budget aftermarket radiator without a drain plug on the core.
