I'd add a kill switch for the fuel pump. Disconnet power and turn over with gas pedal to the floor - it will catch after a minute or so.

If someone where to add a kill switch to their fuel pump and turned the fuel pump off while the car was running shutting the engine off, do you think that would keep the car from flooding itself?

I wanted to know if anyone could help me out. I own a 1989 Mazda RX-7 (auto) and it seems to flood from time to time. I wanted to know what is the best way to fix it after it has been flooded, instead of always towing it to the mechanics?

Any Suggestions?

Aaron

I have an 88 'vert and have this problem as well. I solve it by having a neighbor tow me to the top of a hill. Face forward downhill, get rolling about 20 MPH and ease into fourth gear and let out the clutch. You will hear the rotors pumping and a big plume of smoke as the engine fires up. I think the rolling start clears the compression chambers and helps deliver the most spark available.

I wish I lived at the top of a hill! good luck
