81 GSL. What do I do?

I Just bought an 81 GSL in really nice shape. It runs however the motor burns as much oil and water as it does gas. I had a 79 and an 81 about 15 years ago so I do know a little about these cars. What I want to know is: should I rebuild the 12A that's in it? Should I convert it to a 13B? How hard is it to convert it to a manual? (The automatic has to go) Any help here would be great. I even accept sarcasm. lol.
