95' B2300 reves up to 3500 rpm when i put the clutch in, this only happens when vehical is in motion not when parked. Once the shift is complete the rpms fall. Sometimes it takes about 4 seconds for the rpms to fall.

I had my truck stuck in the mud the day it started to happen and had to really spin the tires to get it out. Iv'e recently changed the throttle positioning sensor, although it was full of corrosion this wasn't the problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, i am currenty very very low on cash so bringing it in to a service station is out of the question.

my e-mail is Locasbar@eastlink.ca my name is Mike

I would suspect a vacuum leak, or a faulty IAC valve. Try finding and correcting any vacuum leaks, as well as cleaing the TB and IAC valve with a good throttle body cleaner (no carb cleaner). That may help. Make sure the trottle cables works smoothly, and check for a sticking throttle plate.

Hey Tyranitar i posted a note the other day to you thanking you for your suggestions but i'm not sure where it is??? anyway...

Replaced TPS and cleaned IAC valve checked for vacuume leaks best i could throttle cables seem to be working fine...not sure how to check for sticking throttle plate? but found a guy who will run a compuert test for $20 which will hopefully tell me what the problem is or is not...hopefully i'll find out tomorrow and post the problem for all to see.

I've found a few folks on here who have had the exact same problem but never posted the cure...i promise not to one of those people.

Peace,
Mike

It sounds like you may have the same problem I'm experiencing. Whenever I'm in neutrel my truck will Rev up to 3500 and will finally come down after I stop, but it takes it a couple of seconds. The weird thing is that it is not consistent. It seem to do it only I have driven for a little bit. Have you ever found out what the problem was because this is driving me crazy.

Firstly clean the IAC valce on the side of the throttle body. If cleaning doesn't help, try replacement. Secondly, try checking the vacuum lines, and the solenoid to the purge canister. If this either gets stuck open or the line is broken or disconnected, then high idle is very likely.

Thank you for the suggestions....I have since corrected the problem. While idling i tapped on the TPS with a screwdriver...when i did this the reves went up...i cleaned it out but problem was still there...so i went to the junk yard and bought one for $20! (dealership would have been $80) Problem solved!

Thanks again,
Mike

Auto parts store would have been about $40 and its new. I guess if the TPS says you are not idleing, then you could definately get a high idle
