I've noticed on extended stretches of the socal toll roads that my '04 B3000 (V6) tops out at 90MPH. Years ago I wouldn't have noticed, but my motorcycle does the same thing (plenty 'o power left, but the wheels just won't turn any faster). It's classy too, it acts like the throttle is cut when i get a hair over 90. This is NOT a major problem, but a bit of an annoyance.

I assume the ECU is limiting top speed; does anyone know for sure? Anyone know if it can be modified?

Yes, the ECU is limiting the speed. The only practical way around it is to reflash the ECU with a kit like Diablosport. Or you can replace the ECU with one of the aftermarket offerings. Either way it is expensive.

It just depends on how the computer was set up. Some have greater limitations set, depending on the capabilities and handleing of the vehicle.
