either buy a header and straight pipe it with a glasspack or thrush, or if youre not buying a header, cutout the cat and put the latter in its place. fairly loud with a good deep idle tone and nice rumble

Your Mazda B2500 is OBD-II compliant, which means that it has catalyst monitors. So guess what would happen if you removed the cat. Thats right, you CEL would come on and stay on all the time. Furthermore, without the cat, your truck might be louder but it would produce less power and get worse fuel economy. It potential resale value would also plummet.

The best thing you could do if you want a little more sound and power is to leave the stock piping in place and do just the muffler. The muffler I personally recommend is WickedFlow, but I don't know how loud you want to go or what your tastes are. The WickedFlow Max series is really mild sounding. It has a deep throaty sound, but it is not as loud as some others. Its focus is more on the quality of the sound than the total volume. Performance wise it cannot be topped. Here is a link

In the long run if you want more power but don't want to trade off the fuel economy (the 2.5L can get mid-20s or better) you might want to start looking at turbocharging it. That would obviously be expensive, but there are kits, and you can just save up and put the money where you need it.
