I have a 91 B2600i that runs with a minor miss at idle. About six months ago I let it run for about 20 seconds then went to leave work and after driving for about 15 seconds started bucking like it was starving for gas. Slowly kept driving then stopped after it warmed up. Now if I don't let it run till almost warmed up the all the way it repeats this problem.
The Problem: If I get it in it drive right away after driving for a minute or so it bucks and cuts out like starving for gas for about 30 seconds. It is weird because it does not do it right away and after warmed up goes away. I have been dealing with this for 6 months now. I would like to get in it and go if I have an emergency and right now that is not an option. Any ideas of what is going on? Is there a sensor that affects air flow or fuel that would cause it not to run properly when not completely warmed up? Thanx |

The B2600i has a history of computer related problems. I suspect that your open loop circuit may be damaged. You should remove the computer and inspect it for signs of corrosion. If corrosion is found, you should send it to www.avproecm.com and they can repair it.
If the computer is found to be fine, a faulty ECT sensor is likely the problem. The computer cannot run the correct mixture unless it has an accurate readout on the coolant temperature. The sensor may eventually measure in range when it heats up, but other snesors also come online when the engine is warmed up, bringing in a certain amount of redundancy. I don't think many B2600i models, if any, had an EGR system. |
