Hi,

I own a 91 B2200. Awhile back my signal lights weren't working. I never heard the "click" from the relay. I changed the relay (driver's side, lower left under and behind the dash). The signal lights now work, but will quit after some time!

Also, here's what I have now and don't have.

Headlights :YES
High Beam : YES
Front lower signals (under bumper) :YES
Rear signals : YES
Front running lights (white) :NO
Front upper signals :NO

The front upper running light(white) and front upper signal(amber) only have one bulb w/single element
I have checked all the bulbs that aren't working but they look good as well as the sockets they sit in.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it either, but I have changed the inside courtesy light two times already, it seems easy to die.

I'd like to hear if anyone has clues as to what may cause this before I tackle the job of dash dis-assembly and harness check

I have also taken both rear grounds apart and cleaned them up real good. That didn't help. I get no backup lights or brake lights either!

same with no power to the stereo.

Has the stereo been replaced? Is it an aftermarket stereo? Was the wiring spliced instead of using a harness adapter?

It wouldn't surprise me if the stereo has been miswired and could be causing all your problems.

or it could be that fuses are blown or you have a short to ground somewhere in your wiring, my suggestion is find a repair manual and go through and find the wires where your having trouble and just doulbe check all of the wires and all of the fuses. just my .02

The stereo is replaced. I will look into that. It is also dead along with the lights!
I have taken apart the grounds on the rear frame and cleaned them up.

I own the official shop manual 1991 B2200 Shop Manual.
Funny thing is there is two different switches shown. One for the 2200 and one for the 2600.
The one that is in my truck reflects what shows in the manual that it is for the 2600. It also tests out as the 2600 would.

I didn't worry too much as this one did work at some time.

As I have been going through trucks in the wrecker, they have all had the 2600 one.

Anyhow, I took apart the main harness and there was quite a bit of wire melt (insulation melted together). I took all the wires apart gently looking for the unification of actual wire and didn't find that there may have been a short there but I didn't get a chance to test it.

What's up with my 91 B2200 having a combo switch that the manual states is for the 2600?
Keep in mind my truck is basic. No intermittent wipers. No cruise.

Thanks for the help guys!
