87 b2000 engine rattle/knock on deceleration

Fresh rebuild with new crank kit and bearings. Used plastigage, assy. lube and correct torque (in steps). No smoke, starts and runs well/normally until I accelerate and then back off of it at which time it rattles briefly...also does it briefly after I shut off the engine (very noticeable, fairly certain it's the engine and not an exhaust or other rattle issue). Head only has 10k. All timing correct including timing marks/belt. New oil pump(plenty of oil at head). Any ideas?

honestly it sounds like the exhaust shield is loose or is missing a bolt

check your valve lifters, you might have floated one of them. Also, check your timing.

wait, does just the engine rattle, or the whole vehicle? if its just the engine, its a lifter.
