Default Help!!! Engine compatability!!! 92 2600!!!

Hello, i own an old 92 b2600i, the engine is hooped and i just cant bring myself to the idea of scrapping it. Its a nice truck, since i bought it i have had quite an adventure and would like that adventure to continue for many years to come.

I have been thinking of rebuilding the motor, but i just dont have the time or the required skill to finish the job in a time period that can fit my schedule. So i want to just buy an engine with a decent amount of kms on it and drive.

My question is concerning compatibility, i know that an mpv of around the same year will fit in it. I have also been told that an older mitsubishi motor will fit in it with a little hassle. And i read somewhere that i can slide an engine from an old ranger into it as well.

Im wondering if some of this is myth and legend, or if my options are more numerous than i am expecting. Maybe someone can point me in the direction of some good reading material to help me out. Or if the wonderful people of this site can give a fellow mazda owner some good advice.

Your help is much appreciated, as i am in a bind, with a new contract starting in a few towns over in a few days. i would like to have my truck up in the next five days. ( god willing)

The best swap if you can is to put the same engine in that came out, then everything plugs in and you don't have to redo anything.

The rest largely depends on what trans and bellhousing you have. The trans is shared with some Mitsubishis and some Fords. But you still need the bellhousing to have the right bolt pattern. The MPV motor from the same period is a good choice, the V6 engine isn't bad. The Older Mitsubishi 2.6 will fit, be be advised, Mazda stopped using those for a reason. They had low power, bad gas mileage, and upper valvetrain issues.

Which Engines are compatable with a the 89'-93 MPV or B2600i that I could take from an old FORD ranger ?from what years as well?IS there any other ford motors that could fit the bell housing on ????? I Own a 91' mazda B2600i 4x4 2.6 lit. Truck. Im pretty sure that the MPV's & B-series trucks from 89-93 share the same SOHC 2.6 liter Engine but I have also seen a DOHC V-6 in an MPV im not sure of the year(early 90's) would one of those be able to bolt up to my standerd transmission for my B2600i 4x4
