Default Relacing ball joints

Hi Guys
First time poster here. I'm trying to replace the ball joints on my 1999 b3000 4x4 truck. The problem I'm running into is the cv joint/axle. I can't seem to figure out how to get it out. It appears to have some clips around it inside of hub. I don't know if it has to be pounded through with a rubber mallet to pop clips or what. I was hoping it had a nut holding it on, but no such luck. Could I remove tie rod end to get the clearance I need to remove/installl new lower ball joint? Then re-install the current tie rod ? I included some pics . Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

You need snap ring pliers. Get a good service manual, like a Haynes or Chiltons, it gives you the step by step instructions, and usually tells you what kind of special tools you may need.
