hi,

after seeing the mazda 3 pics, i am really attracted to it. Definately looks better than the 2002 Toyota Corolla, Mitsubitshi Lancer Honda Civic & Nissan Sunny.

I wonder are they total revamping the engine ?

Can't wait for it to hit Singapore's shore ! Does anyone has pics of the sedan version ?

No sedan pics yet, I E-mailed MazdaUSA and they said that Mazda Japan hasn't released any pics of it yet.

The top engine will be the 2.3L I-4 from the 6i, making 160hp. I don't know if that will be the only engine offered, and I do expect to see a MazdaSpeed version with more power.

Ok first of all I am a Mazda loyalist and since I also evidently like Nissan products maybe a loyalist there as well. There are cars of both ilk even in the same family lines that just don't jive, but ultimately it comes down to the way you feel in a car. I liked the Millenia's ride over the ES 300, the size over the 3 series and the insurance cost over both of them, and have had the car since it came off the truck in June of 94. Mazda to me is following and being safe to a degree although that may be changing in the last year or so. They dragged their feet in making the MP3 competitive. The 6 seems to be out the box competitive, but so was the Millenia when first released. he difference I think that Mazda has learned is the advertising. Who doesn't know the Zoom Zoom song. I haven't driven the 6 yet but **** I know when I hear that Music one of the 3 cars I am going to see. By the way you will like or dislike the new 3 or the Ford Focus because they are both going to be built on the same platform as is I believe the 6 and the new Taurus replacement. By the way the 6's engine I think I read is quite close to the 3 liter duratec that Ford builds. Yes, in an age where all the companies share either above board or below, many cars are going to have similarities.

Actually, that's the Mazda 3's concept car, the MX Sportif. There's slight differences.

LMFAO.......I just now noticed this thread.........how great

The 3 has both an RX-8 and 6 appearance to it. Which is very smart. Manufactures that use the same design schemes are wise because it makes their cars distinguishable from other makes.

Man this sucks... I've been out of the loop but I remember a Mazda concept car (I think this 3 is based off it) that was an actual hatchback. It had a great resemblance to the MX-3, which is a great Mazda that I love. They need to step it up in that area, and make a more perf. oriented newer gen MX-3. This car is wayyy to similar to the Protege 5 IMHO... what's going to happen to that car? It hasn't run it's course yet. I like the interior though... looks like the 6.

Oh I just read in your mazda minutes that they are still making the 3 door. Sweet. I think that's the one I was talking about.

When did I ever say it would be a 3 door?

And the Mazda 3 is the replacement to the Protege and Protege 5. The one in the pics above will replace the Protege 5, however I haven't seen any pics of the sedan yet. The Mazda 3 is coming in several months so there will be more info as it gets closer.
