Overall the new 3 is supposed to be larger in just about every aspect. When I bought my MP5 the other day they said they believed it also was going to have the 2.3 L from the Mazda 6. From the pictures I liked the 2003 better so did not wait.

Yeah the people at the dealership said it was going to be both wider ans have a longer wheel base for better handling.

I say yeah right,

Mazda3 IS Bigger:

Protege5 / Mazda3 Hatch

Curb Weight: 2749 Lbs. / 2826 Lbs.
Wheelbase: 102.8 in. / 103.9 in.
Length: 170.5 in. / 176.6 in.
Width: 67.1 in. / 69.1 in.
Height: 57.8 in. / 57.7 in.

It's bigger, it's better, it's going to have more options, and its going to have a bigger motor, 2.3L I4 in the hatch.

Bigger does not always equate to better and neither does more power but I for one hope they do keep improving the breed.

After reading Bruno Luong's information about the 3, I am SOLD! I want one! And my timing will be perfect with the launch at the end of the year, too.

Yeah, I"m totally sold. If it's pretty reliable, it just rockets up to the top of my list. It looks great, and with any luck it'll have good performance (at the higher trim levels) that is fun to drive.

they're putting htat motor in that car...that should scoot pretty good. I think automotive news said they will be launching in December, but they arent going to be flooding in in huge numbers. something like that. Looks like a sweet little car though, just might be hard to get a hold of one in the first couple months...Hopefully they learned there lesson with the 6 and make the models that ppl actually want
