[whine&complain]

Hey fellas usually I skulk the forums and post often, I have been quite busy as of late.

Ok I am having issues here, the mazda 3 s package, understeer or oversteer....reason being I currently drive a honda accord and the dam thing is aweful on the curves, that is why I have a yamaha R6 ...that aside....please any answers....??

Secondly, I hear a lot of peeps getting the 3 i s <GT and GFX respectfully> and you dont post pics!!! I salavate at the chance to see your car!!! please post! esp 3 S package 4 door. I am looking for a car that I will be able to modify and race amateurly.

Lastly, traction......yes traction....I know some Canadien peeps can answer this one, cause of the weather you folks get up there. How does it drive in the rain, <when driving aggresively> is it skiddish?? etcetc

Well most cars are designed to understeer unless it is a rear wheel drive car, in which case it is still designed to understeer but if the driver wishes they can add more power then the car can accept and cause it to oversteer.

I've never seen any front wheel drive car over steer. To much power will cause the front end to plow across the lane and understeer.

I agree, perhaps I should restate the question, before owning my RSX type S which if pushed extremely hard would under steer, my honda accord understeers with moderate pushing, anyone out there driving a 4 door maz3 S that has driven an accord that understands where I am coming from? Reason that I am being so dam picky is that for me it is either the Subaru WRX or the mazda 3.....cost and looks of the 3 I like, the newest 2003 wrx I like as well cause of the performance but its just too much $$$

oversteering is possible in a front wheel drive in some situations
when i went racing at the local oval track on open racing night
my buddy's golf (86 with a vr6 transplant) which is front heavy by alot
did do alot of sideways driving that night.a front driver will oversteer when pushed to the limit.

ive got a 3 GT sport (in canada) and so far have not pushed it hard since the roads have been wet around here but it sure feels alot more planted than my P5 did... i have driven a WRX wagon as well and well its tough to compare it to a FWD car but it sure pushed safely to the limit unless u do something really dumb... if i set the rear bar on my jetta to max stiff it will happily rotate whenever i want!

I'm in Canada. Funny because I would have gone with the WRX also but it's just too expensive. Even though we haven't had a big snow storm yet, here winter tires will be a must and we should be ok. The 3 is no problem in rain and will be ok in snow but a limited slip differential is a big omission I believe. Especially when you pay for the upper trim.

I mean crap, even a guy I know has traction control in his Neon to get out of snow banks in winter! ....better not be stuck this winter because I know one guy that's not going to laugh They should have at least offered it as an option.

Being front heavy generally causes plow, or more understeer. The only way to oversteer a FWD car is by using a 'flick' method, by turning the opposite direction of the turn and then quickly turning into the turn, upsetting the car and throwing it sideways.

Don't ask me how I know that

Yes I know the flick method very well.....I would do that in my old car <91 camaro Z28> talk about a pain in the arse in the snow.....yessh! Yea the WRX is way too expensive......but one thing that also pains me about the maz3 is that it doesnt have the climate control something that i liked very much in my friends maz6 and in my old RSX type S. Since there is no climate control for the NA models, what does the middle display say when you have the air on and such....does it give an internal temp ???? does it show the method of heat or AC .....eg : bi-level what not....or does it rely heavily on the display of the knobs .......am I making this clear??

Teklis,

What was your overall impression of the RSX and why'd you get rid of it? It's actually one of the cars I've been considering. (Sorry about hijacking the thread).
