This option is standard on the HB in the US.
And Canada.

The January issue of Sport Compact Car also has a little blurb about the 3 and the sport package you might want to read. Sorry I don't have the link for that one.

Sorry this might be a little off topic but on the 3rd page of the Car and Driver review it lists the redline as 7100 rpm. Is this a misprint? I know my tach (Sport GT) shows about 6500rpm as redline. What gives?

peak power is at 6500rpm, but you can pull until the rev limiter at 7100rpm. As for the sedan with the sport package heres mine:

A few days ago I had my AT in manual and pulled 7200 rpm's in first gear and it pulled all the way, and was still pulling when I shifted (out of fear) into 2nd.
I've owned 72 cars and trucks and never had one that would hit 7200 rpm's stock. One magazine (Motorweek) said it ran out of breath at redline (6500) but I don't believe it.
I love this 2.3 engine.

I've had my 4dr for a month now, it's great. I just took it to protoge' fest in Barona raceway, CA. I was the only mazda 3 at the show that was draggin'.
The car performs well ...i wish i did...lol
