Can someone tell me how to properly change the side marker bulbs from the original one to a white one without damaging anything?

you mean the fender mounted side repeater light? You can't change the bulb... its molded into the whole housing and when the bulb burns out you have to replace the entire housing... odd design if u ask me but i suspect its meant to solve the problem of moisture getting in the lenses like on Mk4 VWs since the lights reside right under the drain holes for the rain tray...
