So in my consideration of the 3 I have decided that I like the black honeycomb grill on it better than the one with the body color horizontal strips on it. Has anyone switched these out on the 5-door? Are they the same size on the 4-door and the 5-door? I read that the front facias are different... is it true? Are they different enough where this wouldn't work?? Anyone know? Thanks
Rach

I own both a 3i and a 3 5. The grill is attached to the hood on the 3 5. It is not attached to the hood on the 3i. Also if you look closely the hoods are shaped differently.

Over here in the UK, you can get either the 4 door or the 5 door with either type of grill. Therefore mazda must make ones that are suitable.

We had a look at this question in Australia. Over here we also get the 4 door or the 5 door with either type of grill. However you have to make a decision at purchase as the honeycomb and painted grilles are not interchangeable.
The painted grille will not fit into the honeycomb's front spoiler/bonnet and vice versa. So the answer is once you've driven off with your grille type it's to late. |

I asked the guy who was 'helping' me at the dealership the question and he said they were 100% interchangable.
Perhaps I'd either have to do it outright or order one from overseas... heck or maybe even have one custom done... Good to know. thanks for the help Rach
