I wanted the moonroof - 6CD changer was a requirement, so the mp3 player is not possible.
the head unit appears to be such a pain and expense to change out - not to mention the aesthetics issue - so I added the cassette deck and will run high-quality portable mp3 player through a good cassette adapter and use cig lighter power. it seems like the easiest compromise to me, plus I can hook up a laptop or portable DVD player via adapter to the car stereo, and, voila, it works, too (batteries not included). not to mention, the CD changer will have much less wear on it over time, and this doesn't void the factory warranty. perhaps eventually the cassette deck may be changed out for a multiformat MD CD-audio/mp3/WMA player in the future. seemed to be worth $200 for the convenience now and future possiblity! |

Just so you know, the only difference between the mp3 face and the cd changer face is that there is a tiny MP3 logo (less than one inch) next to the loading slot. Everything else is identical. The interior display looks no different.
The mp3 player is a dealer installed option. The straight price you would be quoted is $325 plus 1.5 hours of service pay (about $125 around Dallas). They can replace the changer with the MP3 player. I hope that helps clarify a few things. |
