I have a few questions about the 3 and Mazda in general. I am about to head off to grad school so I am looking into buying a new car.
What is an average service bill like? Are we looking at a $200 oil change at the dealer? (my fiance just paid $200 at the lexus dealer to have his oil changed and the car "checked"). If need be will a mazda last ten years without too many real problems? The dealer is offering $1200 american dollars over invoice for the 5 door with all options including navigation. Is this a good deal? I have no idea what you can get a mazda for, so I need a bit of a jumping off point for negotation. What are some common problems with the 3? And dont tell me there arent any, just cause you love the car and the maker. Every car is notoriuos for something! I hope to bu the car this weekend so I need the advice of all you experts!

Hi there,
You're right nothing comes without a problem. I found this link and was reading on it late last night about potential problems. Honestly i think its a few (normally expected from a new car). But i dont think they should be if the platform isnt new. I was very very interested until yesterday but now i am thinking that a reliable engine and operations is worth much much more than design and looks and endurance and reliability .. which is where the Accord comes in... Seriously with the Mazda3 the design is far ahead than the current generation cars. Accord/civic/Altima will all look like this in their respective next generation. But keep the options open .. never marry on the first date.. check the Mitsubishi Galant. Much like the maxima without the heavy price. But already an edge ahead in design than the competition. |
