my mazda dealer told me that there are no breadk in periods for mazda's. But i think it is best to take it realatively easy for the first little while. Just to be safe.

For me, I drive a long distance about every day, so I had no choice when it came to driving it a lot of miles off the bat. But i've always heard long miles are better then stop and go, especially at an easy constant speed. I never jumped on it for the first 350 miles. Then I got on it a couple of times to see what it could really do. That at about the 500 mile mark I would every so often drive it around a little bit harder, nothing to radical, and after that, I drove as I normally would, fast around town, easy on the freeway I hope that I did a good job of breaking it in!

A good break in for a brand new car (as I have been told) is 500-1000 mi of city driving, not touching anywhere near redline, then change the oil by 1000mi.
