usually a deposit of 50-100 dollars would be fine for a weekend, I'm not sure what you may have to do for an entire month. when I was looking for my millenia I put down 500 over the phone with the salesguy jsut to hold it for a few hours...but thats alittle different I guess

I put $200 down on mine about 2 weeks ago (was supposed to be in this week but got pushed back till next week). Just make sure they'll refund the deposit if you change your mind/ buy a different car. I also had them write the VIN number of the car i was waiting for on the reciept.

I know the feeling of waiting for your car to arrive. I went down to NJ to buy a 3s (I live in Boston) and when I got there the car was not there. They said that it was in the system as 'in stock' instead of 'in transit'. So I bought the car and left them a huge deposit. The car was supposed to arrive the following Tuesday. Well, it keeps getting pushed back - I think the dealer is playing games. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks waiting for this car. Supposedly they got a huge shipment in and I will get a call in the next few hours to see if mine was on the truck. I am not expecting it to be there. I am VERY aggrevated at this point to say the least. The problem is that there is a shortage of 3s 5 -speed manual sedans on the east coast it seems. UGH!

There seems to be a similar shortage out here in LA... i'm trying to use the entire ordeal as an exercise in patience - a personal challenge... its not really working thus far but i'm trying.
Not sure if all car manufacturers are this bad, but they really don't seem to have a handle on the whole shipping process... |

Well, the car was actually on the truck. Yippie! Well, sort of. I can't get it until next week because there are issues with getting the car back to Massachusetts, registering it, insuring it, etc. I need to fax some stuff over and then deal with the finance aspect of things on Monday. Ugh - I really regret doing this out of state now. UGH!!!!!!!! I guess a few more days ain't so bad if it all works out in the end.

You can probably put anything down you like, they want to sell you the car.
I put down 3000 cause i hate owing anyone money. On top of my monthly payments I'll be dumping lots of cash into a mazda3 payoff account, once I have the full balance I'll go into the dealership, write a check and get rid of my monthly payments. Projected point of completion for this goal is a year and a half. I am sure this goal will be pushed back a couple months. You should have walked out if they did not have that car in stock. Find someone who did. Did you check there dealership inventory and confirm with a salesman before you drove down to Jersey? If you did then that sucks that there was a glitch showing a shipped car in stock. |
