who's had a smoking engine???

Hi everyone,

Has anyone had this problem?

I was driving home last night and a strange grinding / slipping / vibrating sound was coming from the right side of my vehicle...Smoke stated to pour out and it smelled like burned rubber!!!

I lifted the hood when I got home and found a lot of smoke coming from the serpentine belt area, and the belt seemend glazed on both top and bottom. Also, a few of the rollers seeemed to have burned / glazed rubber on them...

It is in the shop now, but I am wondering if anyone has had a comparable problem, and if so, what was done about it.

I am thinking that a bearing in some part of the serp system is shot / frozen and now the belt is slipping and burning...yikes!!!

Please respond, would love input...who knows...perhaps I am the guinea pig for this forum!!!

cool, ive not heard of that on a 3 yet... sounds like when the ac compressor sezied on my friends neon... lots of smoke!!
