Hey fellas,

I've been scouring the internet for some kind of anything to improve the bass in my Mazda3 sound system. And, well, I think I may have found the answer. Anyone else heard of/purchased an Infinity Basslink subwoofer/amp device? It seems like the perfect answer to me: small and compact for a small and compact car, good performance and power, and, best of all, no hole-cutting!

Here's the URL: http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/pr...Ser=BSL&Cat=PSU

Take a look if you're interested; but for those of you who have one in their 3, or know someone who does, I'd like to hear your success--or perhaps unsuccess--story.

Thanks!

A lot of people installed Infinity speakers (components, coaxials, 6x8 and Basslinks) in their 3s. I don't know why, but as soon as one started everyone else followed. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but to me it's like having a Titanium Grey Mazda3, turn the corner and there goes another one.

LOL!

My 3 is titanium grey! ...in fact, there's another titanium grey down the street. Maybe they have Infinity Basslink...

Those that did install them in their 3, no matter what colour (!), loved their sound.

the infiniti basslink and basslink t are great bass enhancing additions to factory stereos. they take up little space, are easy to install, and produce enough bass to satisfy most listeners. but if you want competition level bass they the infinity powered subs probably wont suit your needs.

Those are cheaper and smaller... Anybody got one?

My dad had a powered one in his 98 New Beetle. The worst piece of $hit I've ever heard.

I too would like to add some more bass ( the mach 460 on my old stang is ideal) but then again, I bought the 5 door for the room and I dont want it to interfere with space...at all. maybe if i get premium speakers and a small amp i would be happier?

It all depends on your meaning of happy...and to an extent, the type of music that you listen to. I'm not the type that drive down the road with a trunk full of 12" subs in my car, but I do like to feel the low end. I stuck in a 10" sub in the smallest box allowable in the back of my hatch, the room I've lost due to the sub enclosure is liveable, I've made due with less on trips to Costco...just as long as I can fit my golf clubs in the back, I'll be happy.

I've seen one sub installation where they used the room in the sidewall of the cargo area (where the jack currently resides) and molded a fiberglass sub enclosure and added an 8" sub, a 10" might be possible with a little added modding of the interior side panels. However, the Basslink unit is rather small, it won't hit as low as a true sub/sub enclosure but it might take up less room than a Bazooka.

Do you think I'll have to replace the stock speakers with an added Basslink??

That's my primary concern. I wouldn't want to hookup a "powered sub" and blow out my speakers.
