I was just at my Mazda dealer picking up an oil filter cartridge. While waiting, I overheard part of a conversation. I'm not sure what to make of it. It went like this:

Guy #1: On those 3's, they're saying to replace the fuel cap on all of thm
Guy #2: Really? So they just don't know what the problem is?
Guy #1: They said that when they put them on, they were cross threading them, so they don't seal right.

That's all I heard. Would that be the fuel filler cap? I can't think of anything else that would be referred to as a "fuel cap." Mine seems just fine. Maybe they were just talking about the ones on their lot?

I would think it almost impossible to cross thread the 3's gas cap. It only goes on one way and there isn't many threads there to begin with.

That's what I thought. But what else would be called a "fuel cap"?

No open recall at this point.
