I have a 1 month old 2007 mazda3i touring; great car but lots of static on the FM radio due to bad reception.
I just got back from the dealer and the technician told me after inspection that this was a known issue with these cars and that this was considered normal. He even took me for a ride with another mazda for comparison - again lots of static. Since nothing was broken there was nothing to repair - apparantly even the volvo models based on the same framework have this problem with bad radio reception. I'm wondering if other mazda owners have noticed this and if/how they fixed it. Thanks in advance for your input! |

The problem is the short FM antenna. Put an old-school FM antenna that's over a meter long on there and your reception would probably improve. You might also try an in-line FM antenna booster. The millenia has the FM antenna integrated into the rear glass and the reception is terrible too. I don't worry about it since I have satellite radio.
