Hello all! My awesome 2005 SP23 has never given me any problems, but I took it for emissions today and it failed with the above error. The check engine light had come up for a couple of days about 6 months ago with the same error. I cleared the error and it never came back on, so I thought it was just a temporary problem.
I called a mechanic and he said many times the O2 sensor isn't bad, but its actually and electrical problem. I looked in the fuse box and found two fuses that control the O2 sensor heaters (32 - ENG BAR 4, 33 - ENG BAR 3). There was no fuse in 32, and the one is 33 is fine. I definitely never removed the 32 fuse, so I have to assume it has never been there.
The mechanic is estimating $45 diagnostic fee and $150 parts and labor to replace the O2 sensor if it needs it.
My questions are: Should there be a fuse in 32 - ENG BAR 4? Does this price seem fair from the mechanic? Best guess as the to cause of this problem?
Thank you so much in advance for any help!
