Default Compressor works, but no fan

Ok, this is driving me nuts.

I've been noticing a faint clicking sound coming from the fan when I run either the AC or heat. It's been going on for the last 6 months, so I assumed that the fans were about to give out.

On Wednesday of last week, I got into my car and the fans stopped working. I took it to a repair shop and they told me that I needed, of course, a new fan. They had to order the part and told me to come back on Tuesday.

Here's the gotcha, the fans started working again on Friday morning and have been all weekend.

I've been browsing the these forums and found the following discussion:
Mazda 3 Heater Fan

My question is, does this sound like the same thing? Or, could it be something different. Makes no sense to be that something would stop working and then start again for no apparent reason.

Any one else experienced this? Please let me know. Like I said, this is driving me nuts and I'm not mechanically astute to fix it myself.

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest that you need to replace it with a new one. you'll never know what would went wrong again if you still don't do anything. Some repair shops have to order the parts it may take you weeks or days to get it.

Have you checked your A/C resistor? I believe the resistor in the Mazda3 is near the motor blower, there should be two wires coming from the motor that connect to your resistor.
