I just saw this old thread and wondered if any new information. I agree that it looks like other cars mostly the front of an RX-8 grafted on to the rear of a 350Z. I do think it would sell howerver though I don't care for it much. The determining factor would be if it had the power to run dead even with the Civic Si. If not its a failure before it gets out the box. Someone asked who were the big guns. Like always in the less than 50k market it is Honda\Acura. Name one caterggory in that pricerange where they are not the car to beat or one of the top 3. When you consider the number of car makers that is big.

I have owned three RX-7's.
They had what I liked: Looks, performance(handling & speed), price, hatchback practicality.
I'd prefer a 2-seat hatchback RX-8, but if the market won't support it, the Kabura is the next best thing.

Mazda should produce the Kabura.
Then, after sales get established, introduce a light weight, 2-seat, rotary powered performance model.
As a 2-seater it could be made really sexy with rear hinged symetrical vertical doors, but that's probably too radical for most buyers.

Maybe on the next generation prototype try gull-wing doors.
