OK.. This is kinda good in a way. But this could make our gas prices go 52-55 cents more a gallon! I only put super in my car and I'm paying anywhere from $2.19-$2.25 a gallon. A couple weeks ago I was paying $2.35 a gallon!

"New Hampshire is quietly forging ahead with its effort to reduce the threat of the gasoline additive MTBE. The additive improves air quality, but it has also contaminated ground water. New Hampshire is seeking permission to design its own gasoline – one that would burn cleanly, but could contain almost no MTBE. But even if the state wins approval for a new gasoline, it’s not clear whether any refineries will choose to make it. NHPR’s Doug MacPherson reports."

They said probably not until 2007 or some bullshit but I can just imagine what the prices are gonna be then!

What are you guys paying for gas where you live?

I try to only get gas from major companies (I use hess, BP, and mobil primarilly)

Last fillup I got in NJ was $2.249 for premium. I was in PA (where i saw $2.48 for premium some places) and I paid $2.279... There are cheap places for under $2.159 for premium, but i don't like running cheap gas...even gulf feels...crappy

least I've ever paid was $0.999, most was $2.379

If there was a BP that was more local, i would go there if they were within $0.04 of my local Hess. Hess is my primary place due to proximity and price...BP's ultimate or whatever they call it now has some types of cleaners added to it (i think vpower does too now) and it can't hurt if you ask me...

well last night I was going back to uni, I stopped at the drivethru and this damned homeless guy stumbles over to the eunie and the drivethru window, and starts pestering the guy for food, and is grabbing as he passes me the food. he has this hugeass bottle of beer, and then as i'm rolling up my window the ******* keeps knocking at it asking for a favour... then heres where the **** hits the fan, the ******* spills his beer all over the eunie's DS fender and on the hood.........!!!!!!!!

i so wanted to get out and kick his ass but mommy was there... (she takes the eunie back home after I drive myself to school ... so he staggers out in front of the eunie, and I turn on my brights and lean on the horn... he acts all stupid and then stumbles off to the side and falls down; so but anyway, 5 minutes later when I get to school and I'm madly wiping the paint and apologising profusely to the eunie, and she's like "its just beer " GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

2007? jeeze... i read somewhere that many believe we have reached peak oil capacity in the world... so oil supplies are only going to diminish from here. so i don't think we'll ever see gas under $2.00 again.

tell me what you're paying for gas!

SK, I pay 9 riyals (US$ 2.4) for 10 liters of gas. A refill from empty with my 6 2.3 usually takes 50-53 riyals, which last me something like 550-600 km with mixed in-town and highway driving, with the AC on at full blast most of the time. Which is amazingly great compared to the 1987 Benz 300E I had earlier! (That thing barely got me 300km on a tankfull. Sometimes I could squeeze and extra 50kms with careful, judicious use of the throttle. But unlike other countries, driving slowly in Jeddah could get you in an accident )

The answer to high oil prices isn't "find more oil"... it's "get off oil". Problem is though, that the concieved ideas right now are horrendous -- cars like the Prius that get 60mpg let's say, but weigh more than my RX-8, have less room, and only 100 horsepower or so. Batteries are *not* the answer. I'm much more interested in engines that use combustion of hydrogen fuel or something, as BMW and Mazda have already demonstrated. We are a long way off before we have those cars, but the government currently isn't really interested in that -- we can manage with oil probably until it hits $5 a gallon or so -- people will just continue to pay.

However in the meanwhile, companies like GM are already starting to go bust because they didn't think to have proper devotion to fuel efficiency nor development in that area. Now they are going to fire 25,000 people (1/4 of their entire workforce!) because of their crap business decisions to continue creating humungous SUVs. I hope the government doesn't bail them out -- stupid companies should shrivel and die. It's just unfortunate for the workers that got screwed, but part of that is because of the union labor (which is another arguement altogether).

Anyways... we need more companies to get working on hydrogen power, on alternate sources of energy, and leave out the idea of using batteries. Batteries are HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY, and they don't last forever. If you treat an engine right, you can keep putting gas into it and it lasts for **** near ever -- batteries eventually lose all use and can't 'hold a charge' after a given time. And battery technology sucks so bad right now, that it's pointless to keep working on it when there are better sources of energy out there.

A good book to read is called "The Hydrogen Economy". Has lots of info about this stuff.
