Hi all, new to forum as we just bought our first Mazda yesterday. Love the 5, it's like we put our Honda Odyssey into a Shrink-o-vator set for 2/3 size!
My question is: what to do about extended warrantee? It's been offered to us at $1800 for a 10-year plan and we're not sure how useful it will be. Does this make and model tend to hold up well over time or will I be sorry I didn't purchase it in year 4? Any advice from long-time Mazda owners as to recurring maintenance issues? Thanks! |

Did you buy the car new or used? And what model year is it? I generally advise not to opt for the extended warranty, especially when we're talking about Mazda, but if you bought it used and it's a later model, I would say you might want to consider purchasing the extended warranty, newer cars are built better that older cars and typically don't have costs that outweigh the price of an extended warranty.

find out if the extended warranty is through a reputable company. Find out if there is a deductible attached to repairs and find out what the limitations are on coverage. I got an extended warranty on my 2006 Mazda 5 ( 5-year/100k miles, through CNA), found out the first time I had to use it that there was a $100 deductible for each use.. but the silver lining was that it covered things like Struts, which the dealership did not expect any kind of warranty to cover.
