engine oil

I had some trouble the other day with my car. It smelled weird, funky. And then it was making noises. I added some motor oil from Chevron. Added 4 quarts. Just wondering if that was enough.

Check and see where it now measures on the dip stick.

I think 4 quarts oil is enough..the bigger the engine the more oil is a wrong belief.. 2.4 Ecotec 4 cylinder uses 5 quarts of oil.......3.5 LZ4 uses 4 quarts of oil (my engine)..............3.6 XR and Redline uses 5.5 quarts of oil....I hope this will be helpful.

What??? You added 4 quarts on top of what was already in there? If your engine was making noises and low on oil to the tune of FOUR QUARTS, you just ruined your engine.

If you added 4 quartz you ruined your engine either before adding or after adding. Since you didnt complained yet about a seized engine you should be ruining your engine right now.

Between low and high marks on the dipstick it is typically 1 quart. So in fact you should only add 1 quart at max!!

Go get an oil change or drain the excess oil asap.
