Just purchased a CX-9 and while I love the vehcile, I am exasperated at the ridulous price of approx 700.00 for installed roof racks, cross pieces and ski rack. Anyone aware of 'after market' or an alternative??

I am also looking to buy factory roof racks. You can actually find the crossbars and rails for a few hundred dollars less by just Googling the parts numbers. I am actually considering salvage rails if I can find an 08 or later model recently totalled somewhere. I would be interested in knowing if anyone here has performed a self install? Maybe try HTTP://www.oemmazdaparts.com?

Oh BTW my local dealer quoted me $86 in labor +tax to install the rails and cross. So it can't be that complicated to install?

If you already have rails you can get a rack made by Mont Blanc that has a load capacity of 220lbs. The factory cross only handle 100lbs.

My plan is to try to find a used set of rails and mount the Mont blancs on them.
