I just purchased a 2007 cx-9 with 10 speaker bose system and was very unhappy to learn that the satilite and ipod connectors could not work together. the only options are eather "sirius OR ipod with aux jack. Well after a few days of pulling my hair out and a meter and some hard work i found that there is a way to get both with a mod to the switch box. the switch box was made so you can have sat and aux or ipod and aux. By altering the internal digital switching system with my own switch i am able to have sirius and ipod both on my radio. i have full control of my ipod with charging options and also have my sirius radio as well. if anyone is interested i can make such mod to there switch box. I am an audio electronics engineer and do this type of thing for a living. Im in nj and feel free to email me if your interested.

Hi there. I just got the 2008 CX-9 GT w/ Navi & DVD and Bose Ausio system.

I thought it had Sirius pre-installed, but came to find out that it wasn't.The dealer wants almost $400 for the Sirius tuner setup (Mazda parts 0000-81-G01A and 0000-81-N01) - which is ridiculous in my opinion. I'm looking for a solution similar to yours that will allow me to control an after-market Sirius tuner (such as the SiriusConnect receiver modules) directly through the stereo system. I was considering buying an Alpine CD-Changer to Mazda adapter, then purchasing the SiriusConnect module for Alpine - but I wasn't 100% sure that would work.

You solution seems to offer the best of both worlds - I'd love to get both Sirius AND my iPod working in the car. I is a lease - so I'm not sure I can make any mods to it without causing myself grief down the line, but any advice you have, I'd certainly appreciate.

Thanks!
Chris

**Hi there, I am interested in your fix for this (piece of !@$#) switching box. Please let me know the cost and process for you to do this for me. I'm having MAZDA remove the box now, even as I type this message. If all else fails, I'm returning it. Just to be clear: I have the Ipod Integration Module AND the Switch Box. I navigate the Ipod thru my head unit...NOT the Aux input in the armrest. My Satellite does NOT work because of this setup. Thanks for your help!

Hey everyone,

I just bought a 2008 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring AWD in Black Cherry. I got the sunroof/bose/6cd option and was curious as well about Sirius installation.

I want to take my portable unit and switch it over to a "hard-wired" solution to be controlled by the bose deck. The dealer wanted $430 plus installation fees and I know I can do better at a "stereo installation place".

Any recommendations on where to go or what to get?

Thanks!

Sorry i took so long to respond, I have the switch box working in my cx-9 and it works great with both ipod and sirius. If you don't mind me asking were do you live if its in the New JErsey area i can meet up with you and mod your switch box and show you how to install it. Its so simple to install the switch box and you dont have to put the stuff were they tell you there is so much room behind the radio its silly. get back to me if you are far you can get the switchbox to me and i'll mod it and send it back to you with install instructions. The parts you'll need i can get from my supplier and hook it up to my car for testing then ill send it out. If your interested let me know..

Hi,

I don't know where my post went. Anyway, are you still doing this mod for members? I am very interested for my Mazda Speed 3. There is no solution in the market currently to have both the ipod controller and sirius radio through the stock unit. At least through 2008. The S3 has a 2008.5 and 2008 model years which currently Mazda does sell an ipod controller with a pass through to hookup Sirius. but not 2008 and before.

Thanks.

It's quite a long time from the first post, but subject is quite important for me. Maybe you are still reading this forum.

It's exactly what I need.
But I have a question - how can you choose audio input? Are you using 'media' and 'double click CD' buttons? Can you freely choose method (media or CD) to activate any device?
