I just converted back to CARB legal parts for the CA smog test (swapped ECU back to stock, changed injectors, MAP sensor to MAF, stepped the SC boost down, etc.) but I can't seem to get all the "readiness tests" to clear on the stock ECU. I have driven the car for a few hundred miles in what I thought was enough different situations to get the job done but I am clearly missing something.

I know there is a specific definition of what the ECU is looking for to clear the codes. In fact, I have seen a book at a local repair shop that contains all the 'receipies' for the drive cycles for all OBDII cars. Unfortunately the book is massively expensive and they are a little hesitant to let me Xerox the pages I need.

Anyone have any info on the specific drive cycles for the '97 Miata?

If you're talking about the ECU recalibrating fuel control and o2 sensor feedback after an ECU reset, moderate highways speeds for 5-10 minutes with a warm engine should hasten the ECU learning process.

If the readiness code still remains, your ECU may be losing it's memory between engine start cycles due to a bad fuse or something.
