Excellent DIY wright up. Mazda really put that filter in a tight spot for a big fella. I found myself trying to either fold myself up in the trunk or balancing my body half in and half out while while changing this thing. Thanks for the wright-up because I would still be looking for the thing of you hadn't shared this with us.

I just changed the fuel filter again today. Another tip... Remove the back seat and the cover is right there, immediatly behind the back seat. There are two levers to pull the seat cushion, then three bolts to remove the seat back. About 5 minutes to remove the back seat, then you have the fuel filter cover right there in front of you. Much easier that way.

Fuel Filter Changing Guide Pictures

What happened to all the pictures in this thread. I'm looking for some visual references to the steps. I'm hoping that the parts and procedure are similar for the 2006 Mazda 6, 3.0L

Last edited by Eracer; 06-21-2016 at 05:58 PM. Reason: correct 2.3 to 3.0L
