Default Guide: How to retrofit a cabin air filter into all 96-00 Models

Hi Guys,

So after lurking on here for many years and turning every bolt on this **** car (2 or 3 times lol) I finally have something unique to contribute to the cause.

I have created a guide on how to retrofit a cabin air filter on all models of the Millenia with little more than an exacto knife. 100% factory, no messy business. Check it out and let me know if you like it

Special thanks to MaxMillenia for hosting the file:

http://millenia.rx-7.org/Cabin_Air_Filter_Guide.pdf

PS: I tried to post this in the technical guides section but it says I don't have permission so maybe a mod wants to move / sticky this.

Enjoy

Great guide. Shame on mazda for stealing $15 filter from US millenia for 5 years.

Did you happen to see the evaporator drain hole?

That is another well thought out, researched valuable write by another Millenia owner. This is definitely a sticky! Definitely good work.

Hi Saint_

If you look through my guide on pg 11, you can see the bottom of the housing sort of funnels down and towards the firewall. On the engine side, the hole where it all comes out is just below where the pipes go through the firewall. there is no drain tube, it just drips out the hole.

I attached a pic where you can see the hole in more detail. It is much easier with the housing off the car.

That's the most amazing write-up I have seen in years! Thanks for sharing your hard work. We need more of these kinds of write-ups. Well documented and done in a very professional manner. I like!

Beautiful work! Excellent!

I should also point out that one can purchase the cabin air filters off of eBay for about $21.00 (shipped). That's what I did when mine needed replacing. They are not the Mazda OEM filters, but filters that are made to fit the Millenia.

Whats the advantages of doing this other then breathing in cleaner air? lol. I really don't feel like crap after driving with the windows up and the AC or heat on.

Great write up. Needs a sticky. I bet you got %90 or above on all your essays in school. lol. Im looking forward to more like this though. This deserves an oscar or something.

The advantage is the crap ends up in the filter instead of in your lungs.

BTW this is the original bracket:
