Default Millenia tsx retrofit guide

ok...time for the writeup. Something youve all been waiting for and I give credit to Hawkman as he helped with a few key things in this process. this will be a very very in detail write up so questions probably wont be asked. then again....

ok so on to the write up...

1. You want to disassemble the headlight from the frame. For one piece headlights the passenger side is the easiest. Take off the plastic screws inside the wheel well...start the car and turn the wheel all the way to the left. it makes it easier. yes turn off the car and proceed back to the wheel well...once u have the plastic screws off..there are some other screws underneath the bumper by the wheel well. take these out as well.

2. Now that you have the screws out...remove the wheel well lining back a lil so you can see inside the bumper...all the way to the top right behind the headlight...there is a 10mm bolt. Use ur ratchet to get it out...its a tight fit yes so you might want an extension maybe 4". once that is out there may be bolts on top of the headlight...(mine didnt) take those off and now to the light itself

3. Take the low beam out and the high beam out. The high beam has a clip over it...and the low beam turns counter-clockwise...from the front of the car its clockwise...pull them out and also...look at the bottom and you should see a lil grey harness clipped in that actually powers the headlight...not the lowbeam harness but the actual assembly has a harness. slide it straight up and then you can pull out the headlight...u may want to move the bumper a lil right there at the corner to get the headlight out...it slides out anyway you can get it out......

3 1/2. (The driver side is a little harder...bolt is in the same place behind the headlight... I actually removed my intake tubing....(not all of it) so its a halfway CAI...lol..to do that you can remove the 10mm bolt that holds the little white plastic thingy in and up inside the engine bay you can see the end of the tube coming up through the fender...push it back into the fender and you can proceed to pull the whole thing out from the bottom..make sure you remove the rubber hose with the little brace on it underneath as well...basically its a backwards "J")

4. Now that you have the headlights out lets head inside...(its probably too cold out anyway...lol)

Preheat the oven to 250...yes i said 250...pull off all the metal clips around the headlight and proceed to put the headlight into the oven...BOTTOM RACK...Leave it in there for exactly 10 mins (yes that means use the timer)

5. Pull it out (its hot...use oven mitts[yeah i did so wat]) and set it down. take a flathead screwdriver and pry it apart..it should come apart fairly easy....i did say fairly right?

6. Once apart look immediately on the back...dont touch any other screws right now..even tho it may be tempting...see these bolts? unscrew them...they wont actually screw out but they will push the black frame out from the inside...so unscrew them as much as possible...the itty bitty small one with the teeth on it above the high beam is going to be a pain..so take ur time becuz ur going to have to use it again when putting everything back together.

7. Once all 3 are unscrewed it will simply pop out...now that you have the black plate out u will begin to take the screws out of the projector...not the once screwed into the face of the projector but the ones holding it into the black plate.

8. once unscrewed..it will simply fall out...once out we grab our prized possession....the TSX projector....take 2 or 3 8/32" screws that are about 2-3in. in length and see if you can get the projector braced down...the screws wont be completely straight...so it will look kinda rigged as you can see mine does...but dont worry itll come out fine...take some nuts and throw them on the other side to hold it in place...now look....uve swapped lights...

9.redo everything uve done...put it back in place to rescrew the bolts on the back....once u get everything screwed back...place the cover back on it to see if the headlights will at least somewhat fit...place it back into the oven and we're making progress....

10. take it back out when done after about 10 mins again....and push it as hard as you can back together...put the metal tabs back on and take it outside...im sure its a little colder than your oven out there....let it sit for about 5 mins and then take your lights...youll need D2S BULBS!! plug and play and stick it back on your car....before you screw everything down...put it in place and just see what it looks like...adjust the lights if needed...and trust me...it will be needed...after youre done with that you can enjoy your lights!!!

These look like they have alot of glare simply because the TSX beam is so wide it actually shines a lil into the high beam reflector....and to top it off they are 55w HIDs not regular 35w

My next write up will be how to Color Mod them...if i decide to do mine....
