New CX-9 engine in 2017 CX-5?

Just got done looking at a 2016 CX-5 and kind of underpowered for my needs! What are the chances that Mazda will offer the 2016 CX-9 4 cylinder turbo with 2000 rpm @ 310 lb. ft. torque as an engine option in the 2017 CX-5 in the Fall? Call Mazda and the customer service rep said they know not such engine! They said the CXC-9 has a 6 cylinder......etc.

Rumors are that Mazda will slowly offer the CX-9 engine in other models at a later date. Mazda fears that offering this engine in other models will hurt their complaints withe MPG for 2025 standard since it will go down. Look for oversea models to get before any U.S. models be available. It all about politics!

Mazda is still debating bringing in the CX-4 to the U.S. or just sticking with the CX-5 for the 2018 model year. If they do only the CX-5, they will bring the Skyactiv turbos engines for it too. But may not get the 2.5L turbo which is reserve for Japanese market for now in the CX-5. These Japanese always seem to limit the choice for the U.S. while the Germans usually are more bold and give the U.S. the powerful engines, the Japanese management are the reverse - usually stick with older engines and concern over reliability.
