It really didn't, at least where sales are concerned. That's why they don't make big cars anymore.
That said, I don't think there's anything stopping them from picking up where the Maxima
should have gone: a new mid-size-plus rear-driver with a powerful V6 and manual or automatic transmissions. A budget BMW 5, if you will, featuring the powerful styling of the current models on a larger, more flowing scale.
That would sell like crazy, especially if priced appropriately like the Millenia was.
