Engine Data

Standard engine in all non-S Millenias was the workhorse KL-03 V6, sized at 2.5 liters and making 170hp via a DOHC layout. This engine was shared with the smaller 626 and MX-6 lines, as well as Ford's Probe.

The unique and sophisticated Millenia S, however, used the unique KJ V6. Smaller than the KL at 2.3 liters, this was the first and (so far) only automotive engine ever to run on the five-stroke Miller cycle. To make this high-compression system possible, the KJ also carried a supercharger to create a total output of 210hp.

All Millenias were equipped with an electronically-controlled four-speed overdrive automatic transmission. This setup included a switch for "economy" or "power" modes and a "hold" button to allow staggered shifting for special conditions.
