I've had my CEL on for about a month now (I know I know). The code came out to be a P0400 which I know is an EGR code. The question is what are some of the ill affects that the cars going to endure with a dirty/broken EGR valve? I have been driving like this for some time now and I dont feel a diffrence in the ride quality. Aside from ride quality can this problem seriously affect the engine? Any advise will be much appreciated.[/b]

Would the EGR valve ports being closed shut by excessive carbon cause another error code to show up? When I took it to autozone they scanned it and got error code P0400, and something else.. they said I would need to buy a new EGR valve, and some 460$ part to fix the second issue. I cant remember exactly what it said/was, but it was something along the lines of idle speed not being correct.. he said I needed a new "Idle air control valve" I think, but can a clogged EGR valve cause this issue?
Im not sure if its clogged yet or not, but I'm going to take it apart soon and find out. Thanks for the very helpful guide, I'm new here.
