94 b4000 error codes - pinging problem

They said O2 and EGR. I replaced both no change to problem.
The problem is heavy pinging on hills. I can reduce this with high octane gas but not get rid of it. The truck also lacks power. The engine light comes on instantly.
I cleaned the MAF without any change either.

I am sure the problem is unrelated but recently I started to smoke going up long hills at highway speed. It goes away once I level out.
help would be appreciated
