The EGR valve is on the back of the intake manifold. It's held in place by 2 bolts. Also, the valve has 2 coolant lines connected to it, which also have to be removed. Once you've taken the valve off of the engine, spray it down thoroughly with carb cleaner and let it dry out. Replacement gaskets are about $7.00 at the dealership, or a bit less at Rock Auto.
When reinstalling the EGR valve, you might want to replace the clip type hose clamps with screw type hose clamps on the cooling lines. Also, don't overtorque the bolts as the intake manifold is aluminum - and, it's really easy to strip them.
