sorry to bring up an older thread, but the "special converter" is called a LOC or Line Output Converter. they can be purchased for between $20 and $40 depending an quality, and where you buy it. you hook up the positive and negative of the 2 rear speakers (Left and Right), usually done at the back of the radio (makes it a lot easier). Then you plug a normal stereo RCA cable into it, and that goes to your amp. Basically, it just takes the amplified signal from the stock head unit and steps it down to a low voltage "line level" signal that your amp can understand without damage.
