although washable and reuseable, because of the oil, if you are not careful, it will contaminate the mas. every couple of years i spray the mas with brake cleaner to get rid of the oil residue. a long time bmw tuner, dinan engineering, supplies k&n filters with their stuff, and they do not recommend cleaning. they had to buy so many mas because of oil contamination. people tend to over oil the filter. also, the filtration is not the best. if you dont have one by now, i would pass on getting one

Ken, you say the k&n filter doesn't do much for performance, but it should be worth the extra $$ seeing it is washable and reusable right? I have read of some of the filter oil causing problems to the MAF, I believe that is only when excessive oil is used though. Any negative effects for you Sir?
