Well, what can I say... I am sure that Shayaan didn't think that his site would be such a breeding ground for ignorance, stupidity, and blatant hatred that it has unfortunately become.

But it has, and there isn't anything that I can do about it.

There are many things wrong with this site, but most of them are in the hands of a few members. The worst of these, and primary reason for my leaving and refusing to support, recommend, or tolerate this site is evident here:

http://forums.mazdaworld.org/index.php?showtopic=16417

A new member says Hi and Bye in one post.

Why?

Because there is a group of people on this site that have decided that it is acceptable to tolerate and encourage BHR's behavior of labeling all females as 'whores' and being extrememly disrespectful to anybody that is missing a Y chromosome.

This is sick and unacceptable to me and I will not be a part of it anylonger. I tried to bring it to a stop with N.Z. girl and tried to bring it to a stop with Jetaway, but apparently it didn't work in ANY of the 3 cases as BHR is constantly allowd to drive off members that would be a MUCH better compliment to the site than some of the ones we have now.

Yes, it is a great shame that posts must be littered with smilies, "poop" stories, and hatred for females, but the bigger shame is that it is allowed. This is not a comment directed against the moderating team, but against the rest of the members that refuse to put a stop to this behavior.

-"if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem". Remember that from now-on as you post.

Many thanks to Shayaan, Duncan, and Benniken(yea, i probably mispelled it, but its late and whatnot) for trying to do what they can to make this site arise to what it could be, but I do not feel that I can put up with this any longer.

To the GOOD people of Mazdaworld, please do something about this, you are only losing friends that you never knew you had when you let someone else chase them off before they even arrive (like has been done so many times on here).

To BHR and the whores that contibute nothing but wasted posts and smilies, kiss my ass and good-riddance.

I'd actually give more credit to Malice and Beinkken for effectively running the place lately...I have not been around much, as is probably obvious.

I'm sorry you're leaving, Shadow - I'm not going to try and persuade you to stay, since you've outlined your reasons well enough. You're one of the good guys. Good luck with your RX-V8 project - do stop in occasionally and let us know how it's going.

I'll admit that I had a certain vision of what this place might become when I originally signed on. I'm sad to say that it has not exactly reached that ideal - not even close. I do have a great respect for and friendship with many of the people here, which is great.

But you know what's sad? I honestly don't know that much more about my Mazda 626 than I did a year ago. Which is striking, really. Yes, I'm going to order the shop manual this week so I can fix my door lock and maybe do my own tune-up, but I should have been able to ask a member how to do that by now and get a reasonable answer. Then I could save myself $125.

Instead, if I posted a question about replacing my timing belt, I suspect I'd get a referral to another web site or a recommendation to "check the shop manual".

We did have some real experts here, once upon a time - Mazda Tech springs to mind, as does Crossbow (who apparently hasn't checked in since late December). Why have they disappeared?

First guess for me is the level of maturity displayed at this site, and it's not very high. For a bunch of people who are mostly in college or graduating, this does not speak well.

Second guess is the content of most topics. Here's a typical topic progression:

Quote:
POSTER 1: Hey, I own an '89 323 GT. If I want to keep my stock rims, what's the best tire I can use?
POSTER 2: What's a 323 GT? Is that like a MazdaSpeed Protege?
POSTER 3: MSPs are sweet
POSTER 4: except in that orange color - i like the black better
POSTER 1: Anyone know about what tires I should use?
POSTER 4: my dad had a glc - it sucked
POSTER 2: I don't know which tire you should use - try Tire Rack, they have ratings.
POSTER 3: yeah GLCs sucked. i had a friend in high school with an old Civic that kinda sucked too
POSTER 4: ALL CIVICS SUCK!!!!!! MAZDA ROXORS!!!!! except glc and orange msp
POSTER 1: So, no one knows about 323 tires?
POSTER 2: I told you, try Tire Rack!
POSTER 4: do what the man says, newbie
POSTER 3: well spoken, padawan
POSTER 4: thank you master
POSTER 3: you're welcome
POSTER 4:
POSTER 3:
POSTER 5 (usually much later): Found an answer on another site, thanks. Went with Bridgestone Turanzas.[/b]
That's probably pretty familiar to many of us. It doesn't exactly fill my heart with pride.

I wish I could just wave a magic wand and improve the dialogue on this site, but that's f**king stupid. So all I can say is GET IT TOGETHER, MORONS! You want parts for your Millenias? Then start acting MORE like a concerned group of drivers and LESS like a chattering teenage fansite.

****, I'm pissed. Shadow shouldn't have to f**king LEAVE THE SITE to make his point.

I hope the other mods here share my frustration. None of us can fix everything, but we've got to be better than this.

Oh, one more thing: Anyone who adds a comment to this topic that does not directly relate to what's being discussed, or that merely fans flames and increases our collective stupidity, WILL BE BANNED WITHOUT PREJUDICE FOR ONE FULL DAY. Other mods, feel free to enforce this policy as needed.

Best be on good behavior, people.

i'll probably join shadow soon if things don't change...

it used to be fun being on here and meeting new people with similar interests... i've been here for a while, and have met a lot of great people over the years, and made a lot of new friends... i've even met up with some members, and even invited some to my house... chris (clue) for one has even came out to my school to chill/drink a bunch of times.

over the last year or so, it's just been downhill... it's funny how that works... the site started out being very informative, then went to ****, got better again, and now has gone to **** again. i remember talking to shayaan many years back, and he said he had a vision for this site... i don't think it was this. i really haven't seen any new members actively posting, i guess cause they're discouraged from doing so....

i remember telling people who asked me questions on ebay, people on the road, etc. to check out mw... i stopped doing that a long time ago, cause i'm almost embarrassed to send them here. if this nonsense continues i may just leave and continue to talk to the friends i've made via aim, phone, etc.... the only reason i'm still here is so that i can keep in touch with them anyway.

at first it sucked, but now i'm almost glad i got my rsx instead of another millenia. it sorta gives me the chance to escape this mess. you guys would be surprised how many thousands of people are on crsx, and how many people join and post every day. sure there's a couple of bhr's here and there, but in general, ignorance is kept to a minimum because the majority on that site don't accept it like its accepted here. there's also no (excessive) post whoring there, and when there is, it's usually entertaining, unlike the repetative garbage duncan just quoted. you guys just need to grow up, and it's really weird saying that, considering many of you are older than me.

See, that's the thing. Much as I hate the way they run the place, I can always fall back to mazda626.net if I need info on my car. Sure, they're totally joyless, but at least they know their **** and don't have so many mindless post-whores.

Here...well, I haven't been around much lately, as I mentioned before. I've had more valuable things to do with my time, sadly enough. It hurts to say that, because I like to think I helped this place way back in the beginning. This site made me buy a Mazda, because of the community I was a part of.

I don't exactly feel the community anymore, ladies and gents. Apparently, Shadow didn't either.

This is what I was trying to say in the "More members" thread when I first joined MazdaWorld. The posting has gone way past the harmless banter that is healthy in a global forum like this...it has been excessive, hostile and very unpleasant at times. I was very surprised that it appeared to be going unchecked for so long.

I think some members have tried to tone it down but without much success. I also mentioned before about the UK site for Ford Scorpio drivers and as I mentioned before I've yet to see a better site anywhere. That's what MazdaWorld should aspire to be !

Look at the member count at the bottom of the screen when you login....phenomenal potential ! Now compare that with the Top 10 posters etc. Huge disparity !!

Like I said, the labelling (Mazda Newbie etc.) only fuels the hierarchy that is implied within MazdaWorld and does nothing to put ALL MEMBERS on an equal footing FROM DAY ONE, which is how it should be.

One member could post 5 pieces of really useful information in a month. It would take him 20 MONTHS to cast off the label of "Mazda Newbie". Yet someone else could post 100 times in a week of mindless diatribe and be elevated to "Junior Member" status in no time at all. Where's the logic in that !

Shadow...I understand where you are coming from and wish you well. I'm sure this will make people take stock and evaluate their (our) collective responsibility in addressing this significant problem.

There's no point in naming names or pointing fingers but to take this opportunity in making MazdaWorld what it can and should be.

So, I could bore you all with another verbose post, but I will just link to my thoughts in the mirror thread.

HERE

I do not like hearing of good people leaving be them near or old. And Shadow and I have locked horns on a few threads, but it was always good fun and enlightening.

Well, I've said something about these pricks about 8-10 months ago, and it's STILL going on? Moderators, you know what you need to do... as much as you might "like" the people/persons involved, you need to do some serious bannings or something. People are leaving left and right, because of a few(possibly one) people that are just retarded. Anything from flaming someone, to just putting in a smiley face to get their POST count up... yep, isn't that sad?

When it all comes down to it, Mazdaworld needs to get rid of it's "pests", because they will rid this beautifull island of it's tourists... cause admit it: nobody likes "pests" :squint:

as many of you probably know, i have always been very much against BHR and all the other "women are whores" campaign or group. whatever it is. i have also noticed that i have not spent much time on the site lately. im not leaving MW. but i do agree 100% with Shadow. He has good reasons and i cannot say one thing against it because its all very true. hopefully this will be a wake up call.

WHO IS LEAVING! jesus you people drive me mad, I mean look at it, how many NEW members in the past month have joined and stayed, mazda isn't even pushing **** right now and yet people continue to join, and not jsut join, stay and post about whatever and they always get a response BEFORE anything eles happens.

Even these people announcing leaving come back twice as often just to see what people will post.

I'm sick and tired of people coming online every few months and bashing this site, if you don't like it then fine, but by sticking around and posting how you hate it then we show it is a great site and gain members, either way MW wins

I love the site. I rarely see bad things happening. This is probably because for the most part I stay out of the lounge and stay in the sections relevant to my car. I have not been in the lounge in months. I have other sits I go to for BSing, political discussion, sports, etc (destinyrules.com). I come here for automotive info. This site has tons of great automotive info. Support this site and the money you send will come back to you ten fold in knowledge. If you do not like the women, gender, race bashing, ingore it by staying out of the lounge and go find another forumn that fits you better for general BSing. There are some great ones out there.

So I say this forum is great and the supporter banner on this response is my putting my money where my mouth is. Join me.
